San Francisco Chronicle - Facebook posted stronger-than-expected earnings Wednesday as advertising revenue grew 66 percent and the company continued to tap into the growing market of mobile users. [...] nearly half of the Menlo Park company's ad revenue comes through mobile news feed ads, and nearly half its daily users now only log on through a smartphone or tablet. Net income for the quarter was a stark turnaround compared with the $59 million net loss posted for the same period a year earlier. [...] that was Facebook's first full quarter as a public company, and it had to account for one-time costs related to its IPO. There was one down note during the conference call that plays into investor concerns that younger users may move away from Facebook in favor of other social apps like Snapchat or Twitter. Facebook's share of a projected $117.6 billion worldwide digital advertising market is growing, according to research firm eMarketer.
